5 Songs for a Hump Day Slump: Circus Songs

27 Jul

Sometimes as midweek rolls around we all start to see that cup as more half empty than full. While Wednesday really is all that much closer to Friday, it can be hard when you realize there are STILL two more working days before the weekend. So in honor of that feeling of “Ugh, Do I really have to drag myself out of bed?” we bring you 5 songs to bring the pep back into your step, or at least let you know you’re not the only one dragging your heels.

5 Songs About The US of A

4 Jul

Its that time of year again. The day where your hyperactive cousin nearly blows off his fingers with a roman candle and dad complains about the neighbors blaring “Proud To Be An American” while the humidity is blanketed with the aroma of hotdogs and chlorine. When unwanted Tootsie rolls litter the streets of tiny downtowns after the parades and kids with braces woefully watch their peers dive into fresh corn on the cob. There’s nothing more American than the Fourth of July- just ask anyone stocking up on beer and potato salad at the local Walmart this week. In fact, we’re pretty sure that somewhere in the Declaration there was a demand that July the 4th be celebrated by grandmothers in red, white & blue sequined baseball caps and uncles in flag printed speedos.

In the spirit of doting on Lady Liberty, we’ve put together a list that is both blue-collar and overly glamorized, folksy and soulful, literal and confusingly cryptic- just like our Land of  The Free.

Happy Birthday America, this one’s for you.

Born In The USA- Bruce Springsteen

America- Neil Diamond

America- Simon and Garfunkel

Living In America- James Brown

Magic America- Blur
