Pint Sized Funk Pop from Mayda

Standing just 2 inches below 5 feet, Mayda is compact powerhouse hailing from the land of 10,000 Lakes. Adopted from South Korea, Mayda was raised by the typical midwestern family only to become a not so “typical” young lady. She found a passion in rhythm and blues music at the tender age of 10 yrs. At 12 yrs, she taught herself Beatles tunes while at a cabin by a lake with some family friends. Since then, Mayda fell in love with writing and performing her own music. After a summer of touring the Midwest and South Korea, MAYDA will release her second full length album entitled, Tusks in Furs. The record will be released September 6, 2011. With the help of world-class drummer, Michael Bland, Sonny Thompson, and Tommy Barbarella the album will continue a new brand of funk pop that remains to be a mystery to name yet rightfully belongs to the self-taught songstress herself.
